  • Prepare and assist in preparing simple to complex tax returns for individuals and small businesses.
  • Review work prepared by other members in firm and initiate and assist in team professional and personal skill building exercises

  • Compute taxes owed or overpaid, using adding machines or personal computers, and complete entries on forms, following tax form instructions and tax tables.

  • Consult tax law handbooks and bulletins to determine procedures for preparation of atypical returns.
  • Calculate form preparation fees according to return complexity and processing time required.
  • Check data input and verify totals on forms prepared by others to detect errors in arithmetic, data entry, and procedures.
  • Use computers for various applications, such as database management and word processing.
  • Provide professional guidance, leadership and mentorship
  • Perform payroll functions, such as maintaining timekeeping information and processing and submitting payroll.
  • Answer telephones and give information to callers, take messages, and transfer calls to appropriate individuals.
  • Collect and deposit money into accounts, disburse funds from cash accounts to pay bills and invoices, keep records of collections and disbursements, and ensure accounts are balanced.
  • Create, maintain, and enter information into databases.
  • Set up and manage paper and electronic filing systems, recording information, updating paperwork, and maintaining documents, such as attendance records, correspondence, as well as other material.
  • Operate office equipment, such as fax machines, copiers, and phone systems and arrange for repairs when equipment malfunctions.
