Substitute Teacher Jan 2001May 2012 Ventura County School District Ventura County, CA Provided substitute teacher presence and performed classroom teaching and supervision duties for grades K to 8 in various elementary and middle schools around the county -- particularly Santa Paula, Ventura, Oxnard, and Port Hueneme - Schedule varied, from semester to semester, depending upon my other business and family responsibilities -- sometimes averaged 10 to 15 days per month, sometimes only 1 to 3 days per week -- this work included a few long-term assignments of 4-5 days per week for a week or two --

Director of development and fundraising programs Jan 2004Dec 2010 Saint Bonaventure High School Ventura, CA Acted as school ambassador for many institution and community partnerships and associations, primarily special development and new growth projects and programs (marketing and fundraising) and fundraising for all school student-athlete activities and athletic teams, acted as special community representative, and chief fundraiser, for school drama and performing arts department -- 
Created and published school athletic season (Fall, Winter, Spring editions) promotional program books featuring all student-athletes ---team and individual photos and narratives, schedules, and historic information -- and, extensive advertising presentations, on various levels of support and promotion, including community businesses and services, and family and friends messages and logos --
Program books ranged from about 80 to 150 pages, and included weekly 16-page updates for football season -- books were sold to families and fans at the various games and competitions, and student participants sold ad and message space, and received individual and team commissions -- this project alone generated nearly $100,000 per year in community and family/friends support for our school --
Video movie and video game distributor and leaser Jan 1986Dec 2003 Company owner "Coming Attractions" Santa Paula, CA Bought, traded-for-fee, and leased movie videotapes and (later) game cassettes, in a three-county regional area, to owner-operated and (mostly small) community-based video stores (about 60) -- Drove and delivered merchandise in a customized small van, on a fairly regular "route" and, sometimes, on an as-needed basis, which was pretty high demand in smaller communities during the earlier days of access to video movie entertainment -- Productive service-based business was very dependable in the time-frame before big video stores and chains choked out "the little guy" --
Sales and marketing representative Oct 1977Dec 1985 Recycled Paper Greetings Chicago (HQ), IL Start up company, Recycled Paper Products (later Greetings), out of Chicago, grew quickly to nationwide status in the late 1970s, and rivaled big players, Hallmark and American Greetings, in the greeting card market within a few years -- Began association as marketing rep (during my 2-yr graduate school enrollment) at UCLA campus student store, and developed a campus "model" for sales, promotion, and product placement that was adoptedat university stores across the US -- Offered a full-time regional sales job, upon graduation (Jun 1979), to continue assisting in the management of company's growth and development in Southern California area -- worked in this capacity for six productive years (not going into my more stressful and less secure graduate school field of study -- health care administration)
Commissioned Officer, US Army Medical Service Corps Aug 1970Dec 1976 United States Army United States and Republic of Korea, US Operated and managed various scopes of medical services and health care-related duties during the following three assignments:
Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Dept of Pathology -- assistant to commanding officer in charge of medical laboratory operations and pathology services for local (and worldwide, as needed) military personnel, and local military-employed civilian personnel, in Washington DC -- 2+ years --
Personnel staff officer, and HQ staff detachment commander, for a mobile army hospital (like MASH) stationed at Fort Ord, in the city of Monterey, California -- responsible for overseeing, steering, and completing all HR type activities for Army medical battalion comprised of 400+ soldiers and medics -- ongoing training included an operating field hospital 2-month set-up in Germany, supporting official US Army training activities -- 3+ years --
Executive and operating officer for a 30-bed US installation hospital, serving 1000+ US military personnel and local indigenous civilian support employees, in the Republic of Korea -- staff included a dozen challenging Army doctors! -- 1 yr --
