Professional Summary
I am interested in this job for the summer to supplement my income for my child in college and another in high school. I do not teach in the summer to give me this opportunity to work as summer help. I have been working for Madison College for 12 years and understand what it means to be on time, accurate, and productive. I am easy to get along with and maintain a positive attitude. I have found this to be very useful for overall moral for everyone at work. Even when times are stressful. It proves to be beneficial to get the job done when time is of the essence. My experiences will help me overcome any challenge I am involved with. Automotive is ever changing and I am constantly adapting to those changes developing new strategies for success.

Program Director Jul 2003Current Madison Area Technical College Madison, WI Set up 8 Full time faculty instructor schedules. Set up 4 Part time instructor schedules. Set up and manage student schedules for 6 sections of 20 students and 5 labs. Maintain program requirements for the state. Determine weekly meeting agenda and facilitate weekly meeting. Facilitate other department meetings as needed. Manage the high school Automotive Youth Education Systems program. Recruit and hire part-time faculty. Assist in recruiting and hiring Full Time Faculty and Auto Parts store employee. Schedule and facilitate program orientations for incoming students. Designate and assist with academic advising for students. Manage Capital Equipment Budget planning and decision making. Assemble annual Unit Plan. Maintain National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF) certification for both programs (5 year cycle). Determine Advisory Committee meeting dates and agenda and facilitate Advisory Committee meeting. Maintain communication with industry representatives on a regular basis including visits to their places of business. Attend Program director meetings. Coordinate efforts with instructors from other parts of the college that teach our general education and related classes. Maintain relationships with high school programs. Coordinate and/or lead tours of our facility for prospective students and other interested individuals.  Meet with prospective students. (new and transfer)
Instructor Jul 2003Current Madison Area Technical College Madison, WI Provide instruction in the Automotive Technician and Automotive Technology programs including but not limited to courses teaching the eight ASE(Automotive Service Excellence) Automotive accreditation areas: engine repair, automatic transmission and transaxle, manual drive train and axles, suspension and steering, brakes, electrical/ electronic systems, heating and air conditioning, and engine performance. Plan, develop and implement appropriate instructional and alternative delivery strategies, including but not limited to, Interactive Television and on-line course delivery.  Instruct students in classes and participate in college activities as assigned by the immediate supervisor. Advise students who have problems with assignments, tests, grades, course content, career concerns, and other academic matters. Evaluate student performance in courses taught by the instructor. Actively work with other personnel in student recruitment, retention and job placement. Comply with college policies and directions regarding student testing, record keeping, advanced standing, providing grades on a timely basis, maintaining office hours for student assistance and counseling, etc. Assist students in developing work experience assignments such as internships, work study assignments, team projects, etc. Maintain certification as an instructor with the Wisconsin Technical College System. Maintain ASE Certification. Comply with all aspects of Board policies and work rules.  Attend division, department and advisory committee meetings. Develop strategies aimed at the retention of minority/female students. Participate in appropriate staff development activities such as diversity awareness, technology training, and Teaching strategies, etc. Demonstrate a commitment to the college's mission, vision and values. Maintain Lab area including tools and equipment (hoists, presses, Dynamometers, power tools, hand tools, air tools, tool boxes, tool boards, pumps, parts washers, grinders and grinding equipment, storage containers, drain containers, Drill press, and specialty tools and equipment). Maintain and repair school vehicles and Transmissions. Responsible for managing  student live vehicle work repair projects for 20 students in a 10 bay automotive designed laboratory, maintaining student work schedules, assisting in ordering parts, assist in repairing vehicle, communicating with customers, and delivering vehicles after completion.

Skill in communications and human relations with populations having diverse socio-economic and racial backgrounds, as well as individuals with disabilities. Skill in oral and written communications. Ability to interact with business and industry to establish partnerships. Ability to use the computer as a management, instructional and diagnostic tool. Ability to establish and maintain strong linkages to community, industry, dealer and independent businesses. Ability to work in a team environment.
Automotive Technician Sep 1989Jul 2003 Kalscheur Dodge Cross Plains, WI Repair Automobile and light trucks to automotive industry standards including warranty repairs. Examples of repairs are: Engine repair/replacement, Transmission repair/ replacement, electrical repair, Heating and air conditioning repair, Brakes and Suspension inspections/repair etc. All aspects of automotive repair are performed. Communicate with customers and other employees related to repairs to vehicles, parts orders etc.
Work with 4 other technicians to repair vehicles in a timely manner and organize daily work. Schedule yearly training using an online schedule system for 4 technicians. Maintain shop equipment such as 7 and 10 ton vehicle hoists, presses, power tools, hand tools, workbenches, and tool box. Maintain safe and clean work area. Maintain material inventory levels.
