• Preserve the peace, the detection, and investigation of crimes, arrest or apprehension of violators and the provisions of assistance of base citizens in emergency situations including the protection of civil rights.
• In high crime metropolitan housing area and on installations with military, dependent and employee populations and sensitive operations: performs full range of police officer duties in joint jurisdiction with local law enforcement agencies, investigates domestic disputes, gang activities, accidents, suspicious activities and crimes. Has full powers of arrest which entails carrying a firearm, Mirandizing suspects, preserving evidence, and testifying in court
• As Special Response Officer with the Department of Defense Police, responsible for dealing with highly complex criminal activities and special situations such as terrorism, hostage taking, armed intrusions, sabotage attempts, threats and hostile actions against high officials, Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).
• On installations with military, dependent, and employee populations, and sensitive operations: Dispatched to scenes of crimes, accidents and natural disasters, makes arrests (in station), and monitors locations of numerous police units
• Conducts preliminary and final short-term investigations of a broad range of alleged and actual crimes occurring solely within the local installation jurisdiction. Investigates reports of missing persons. Investigates violations of agency rules and regulations. Compiles, assesses and safeguards evidence. Makes arrests. Refers cases to other authorities when appropriate
