Night auditor duties include: Operate computers programmed with software to record, store, and balance information, check figures, postings and guest registration entries for accuracy and submit credit card transactions to processing company for payment to the hotel. Balance 2 cash drawers and drop overage in each. Other duties include checking in guests, negotiating price for room rental, determining best option for payment.
The importance of guest service can't be over emphasized. Guests should be treated with courtesy regardless of their behavior.
Much of my responsibility involves researching mistakes made by earlier shifts, making corrections and explaining any unresolved billing or procedural abnormalities to the morning desk clerk.
It is increasingly difficult to work 11pm - 7am shift. There is no possibility of a change in hours.
Sort and deliver mail and packages as substitute carrier to 5 different routes. Routes usually consist of 500-700 individual mailboxes in a distance of 60 - 70 miles. Accuracy and speed are important.
