Highly qualified and experienced physician with over thirty years of practice both as staff and solo practitioner in family medicine attending mostly to the elderly. Dedication to the medical field and my patients is my passion to which I have dedicated my whole life. I am licensed by the State of Michigan Board of Medicine for the last fifteen years during which time I have served a home bound elderly and disable clientele. Before that I was a physician staff in South Dakota and previously I had my private solo practice for over twelve years in Puerto Rico.

Medical Provider / Staff Physician Sep 2000Present VPA (Visiting Physicians Association) Grand Rapids, MI Provide medical services to homebound patients mostly to a geriatric population. As part of theses services:  
  • Examine patient to obtain information on medical condition and health risks.
  • Analyze patient's medical history, medication allergies, physical condition, and examination results to determine best treatment.
  • Diagnose bodily disorders, illness and conditions providing treatment.
  • Prescribe medication and other medical care to treat or prevent illness, disease, or injury.
  • Order and analyze records, reports, test results, or examination information to diagnose medical condition of patient.
  • Advise and explain condition or treatment with patients or guardians.
  • Monitor patients' conditions and progress and reevaluate treatments as necessary.
  • Coordinate work of care givers and nurses taking care of the home bound clientele.
  • Manage and treat common health problems, such as infections, influenza and pneumonia, as well as serious, chronic, and complex illnesses, in adults and mostly the elderly and disabled.
  • Provide and manage long-term comprehensive medical care, including diagnosis and treatment of diseases for home bound and home care facilities patients.
  • Order and interpret the results of diagnostic tests such as complete blood counts (CBCs), CMPs, electrocardiograms (EKGs), and radiographs (x-rays), sonograms, CTs, etc. 
  • Prescribe medication dosages, routes, and frequencies based on patients' characteristics such as age and gender.
  • Develop treatment plans based on scientific rationale, standards of care, and professional practice guidelines.
  • Prescribe medications based on efficacy, safety, and cost as legally authorized.
  • Counsel patients about drug regimens and possible side effects or interactions with other substances such as food supplements and over-the-counter (OTC) medications.
  • Educate patients about self-management of acute or chronic illnesses, tailoring instructions to patients' individual circumstances.
  • Diagnose or treat chronic health care problems such as high blood pressure and diabetes.
  • Maintain complete and detailed records of patients' health care plans and prognoses.
  • Provide patients with information needed to promote health, reduce risk factors, or prevent disease or disability.
  • Perform routine or annual physical examinations.
  • Consult with or refer patients to appropriate specialists when conditions exceed the scope of practice or expertise.
