My primary position is a Journeyman Lineman but I am also an instructor for Salt River Project in Phoenix Arizona. I have been an instructor involving Journeyman Hot-Stick Training, Apprentice Training for five years and a Transformer Class for two years.
As an instructor of the Hot-Stick Training Program, I am in charge of the safety presentation which entails a 2 1/2 hr PowerPoint Presentation. I am also in direct relation with the crews in the outside hands-on application of the 5 day course. My involvement with the apprenticeship consists of Line Construction Class 1, Introductory Climbing Course and Line Construction Class 2, Line Building Application. Instructing includes skill evaluation test grader and presenting a monthly class as an apprenticeship mentor.
I am current on various nationally recognized endorsement such as; Smith Driving (behind the wheel), Certified Crane Operator, AED/first-aid/CPR and S.T.O.P. training. With my job I am required to stay current with Pole-Top Rescue and Vault/Man-Hole Rescue along with other awareness programs such as 'For your eyes only' and 'Recognizing Danger in a Diverse Workplace'. Lastly, I hold a Union Journeyman Lineman Ticket in good standing.
Through a mid-range career, I have held positions/titles of Lead Lineman, Foreman and Wire Foreman working for various Union Contractors. Although no title that I have held is more important than Union Journeyman Lineman from Local Union #266.
