Farm Hand
Ireton, IowaI have approximately 6 years in all phases of ranch work and 8 years of feedlot work. I have a good eye for spotting sick cattle and the knowledge to treat them effectively I am able to perform some surgical procedures, such as C-section, toe abscess, and hoof amputations, and have worked in rehabilitation following these procedures. When moving cattle, pairs or bulls, I use a low stress, common sense approach to eliminate potential hazards to myself and the livestock. I am experienced in feed rations, animal nutrition and supplement requirements of cattle. I am also good at keeping records, can operate a computer, good ar counting cattle, pairing out, and pairing orphan calves with available cows. I have learned a lot from working closely with several veterinarians and animal nutritionists. Working with my dad on a couple ranches and in a feedyard since I was about 9, I have learned a lot about working with cattle, horses, dogs, cats and various other animals. in 4-H, I raised and showed several bucket calves, feeder calves, fat cattle, horses, cats, small animals, rabbits and poultry.
I am honest, hard working, dependable and willing to learn. I have managed crews of up to 20 workers. I have completed a 2 year semester course thru University of Nebraska, Curtis on livestock production nutrition and management, while still in High School. I also have a class A CDL. My farming experiences also include haying, harvesting, spraying herbicides and pesticides, deep ripping and planting. I can operate and maintain most any type of equipment such as bobcats, tractors, combines, semi-tractor trailer units etc. I have good mechanical abilities and welding skills. While in High School, I participated in the school to work program at various businesses in Thedford which involved mechanical duties.
I also worked for various ranches during branding season and worked as a student foreman for several ranches, lining up fellow students to help in brandings and did day work at various ranches.
