After graduating from the Newark Police Academy on May 17th, 1993; I was then assigned to the 2nd Precinct Patrol Division for 3 years. After succeeding all training expectations I was then advanced to the 2nd Precinct plain clothes street crimes unit. During the year of 1997, I was then transferred to the N.P.D. Robbery Squad which is where I investigated major crimes against persons such as shootings, armed robberies, and stabbings. During the year of 2000, I was then transferred to the N.P.D. Homicide Division which is where I investigated homicide and suicide incidents. During the year of 2005, I then requested a transfer and was granted membership within the Internal Affaires Division at which time I was then trusted as the very first and only Detective (person without rank Sergeant, Lieutenant, and or Captain) as the Newark Special Police which consists of 120 uniformed Class 2 officers Commamding Officer. My duties consisted of conducting internal affairs complaints made by civilians, deciding and applying disciplinary actions, scheduling for firearms re-certification, officer counseling, and the liaison between all officers and the N.P. D. Chief of Police. During the year of 2009 I was then transferred to the 2nd Precinct Detective Squad as their aggravated assault investigator. During the year of 2010 I was then transferred to the 5th Precinct Detective Squad as their major crimes against persons investigator. Also During the year of 2010 I was then transferred to the Technical Assistance Unit (TARU) a unit developed to assist all investigative units with technical investigative measures such the retrieval video that may captured a crime as it took place, the building and installation of what is called pole cameras to monitor location of interest for criminal activity. In addition, I was chosen amongst four other departmental members as one to receive clearance to obtain training from the Harris Communications Corp. located in Melbourne Florida which is where I received training and furthermore certification as The Newark Police Department cell phone tracker which I successfully completed several missions resulting with the apprehension of fugitives wanted for serious crimes committed. During the year of 2012 I was then requested by newly appointed Police Director Samuel L. DeMaio to be his trusted body guard and driver. During that tenured time, I did receive training provided by a company titled Black Water which is composed of retired Military special operations personnel who teach individuals responsible for executive/dignitary protection proficiency with all firearms, defensive/offensive/tactical/crash and escape methods of driving. Upon his departure/retirement early of 2015 I was then transferred to the N.P.D Firearms Training Division which is where I then became and remain to be a certified and registered firearms instructor with the State of New Jersey. In addition, I also became a certified Methods of Instrction -Instructor with the State of New Jersey which allows me to provide methods of instruction of all (classroom of people and or congregation of individuals). My very strong points are assessing matters, and furthermore bringing about resolution for closure to same. I have certifications during my past 25 year tenure with the Newark Police Department from John Jay University for investigative Skills, H.I.D.T.A (High intense Drug Trafficking Areas) training, I also attended the John Reid school of interrogation, along with other accredited learning institutions which has facilitated my success with investigative measures leading to high close out arrest records during my career with the Newark Police Department .
