Interstates Construction Sioux Center, IA Regional Manager Nov 2009Dec 2012 At Interstates Construction I was the primary business leader for the company's regional office with overall P&L responsibility for the southwest region of the US. I focused on strategic planning, team development, and business development. In my time at Interstates, I took over what was essentially a new start-up with no backlog, no clients, and no prospects and in 3 years developed the regional office into a $10M operation. Through my contacts, I also generated over $15M in project awards that were performed by other divisions of Interstates.
TFB Construction Queen Creek, AZ President May 2005Sep 2009 I started TFB Construction as an Arizona based industrial electrical contractor. My company performed worked in the power, semiconductor, mining, and manufacturing sectors. As a start-up company I performed in all areas of the business including business development, financial, estimating, planning, and execution. At its peak and in a short time the company's annual revenue reached $6M. My company was unfortunately a casualty of the recession in 2009 and I closed the business in the fall of 2009.

At TIC I started in the field as a helper and after completing an electrical apprenticeship and working as a journeyman electrician, I rose to the position of Project Manager. My responsibilities varied based on the requirement of the project. At times I was the overall project lead with responsibility for the financial performance of the project as well as all aspects of the execution of the project including civil, structural, piping, mechanical, and electrical. These projects were valued up to $10M. On larger projects up to $300M I was responsible for the electrical and instrumentation scopes of work including oversight of engineering and procurement for EPC jobs.

In 16 years I completed 35 projects with the company. These included the Kennecott Copper Smelter Modernization Project in Magna Utah; the SRP Santan 800 MW Combined Cycle Expansion Project in Gilbert Arizona; Several other power plant projects; and several gold and copper mine projects. Throughout my time I took numerous courses in safety, quality, scheduling, communication, management, and leadership. I obtained electrical journeyman licenses in 6 states and won Project of the Year for the Southwest Region in 2002.
