Goal-oriented Training Director dedicated to the advancement of those that need assistance and that have a desire to began a career in the Construction and/or Transportation Industries.
By utilizing the 35 years of transportation and customer satisfaction experience to train these at the highest standard, teaching them life principles and strong character that will enable them to obtain success and achieve the pride that everyone deserves to experience as a professional.
To be an active part of an organization that will allow me to present this passion to make a positive difference in the lives of others.
Since hire in February 2011, I started in the field of the Heavy Equipment Operator Training Program and earned the Journeyman training status and went on to test and obtain the credentials and certifications from Carolinas AGC and The National Center for Construction Education and Research that gave me the opportunity to fill the position of HEO Training Program Instructor and Director which allowed me to improve and build the program into one that would afford the industry and those interested in a career in the industry the opportunity to receive quality training in this field.
While working to accomplish this goal I also worked to develop and establish a CDL Truck Driver Training Program for Florence Darlington Technical College.
In this endeavor I was responsible for researching the trends and operations of similar Schools and to build a curriculum and program that would be able to stand and endure the test of time in this arena and especially in the area and state. The goal was to target the areas around Florence that had been economically stricken and that all had extreme unemployment rates.
By offering high quality Truck Driver Training to those that could meet the standards of the industry that they might find employment in one of the highest employing industries in the nation and one that would sustain their families and provide them with stable finances to allow them to move forward.
To do this the task of building the program had to be completed and after hours and days of unending work had to meet state and federal standards and regulations and be approved by both agencies before license were granted to operate as a School.
The equipment including tractor and trailers, classroom and field and training instruction materials all had to be developed or located and obtained to meet these requirements.
I was tested and certified by the S.C. Department of Motor Vehicles CDL Compliance Office to instruct students in classroom, field and on the road training for CDL training program and also applied and was approved and licensed as a School that had met all requirement as such.
This all was accomplished in seven months and I began the first Florence Darlington Technical College Truck Driver Training class in September of 2011.
I have since February 2011 filled the positions of Instructor, Coordinator, Recruiter, Safety Officer, Program secretary, Third Party Tester and Director.
The Third Party Tester certification and license allows the School to test our students just as the SCDMV does which allows the opportunity to assist our students in a greater way.
Florence Darlington Technical College started that first class in September of 2011 with me to fill the instructor and all of the other mentioned positions at one location with one tractor trailer and now offers training to eight locations, employs three instructors and operate three tractor trailers and in 2014 trained 92 students at a 98% completion rate and at a employment placement rate of 98%.
Our program is recognized by all major trucking companies and many other companies and agencies including SCDOT, McCall Farms, Schneider Electric, Ard Trucking, SCWORKS, DSS/SNAP 2 WORK and Shaw Air Force Base and Fort Jackson as training provider for soldiers that are getting out of the service and going into the workplace.
We have been active in the community by training BOY SCOUTS for the TRANSPORTATION Merit Badge, supporting and being a part of The Worlds Largest Convoy for S.C. SPECIAL OLIMPICS and organizing and judging Truck Driver Championship for SONOCO and the PEE DEE TRANSPORTATION ASSOCIATION
The Heavy Equipment Operator Training Program has grown and is recognized and utilized by companies, SCDOT and individuals that desire and need the certification training that we offer. In 2014 we successfully trained 47 Heavy Equipment Operators that have an opportunity now to move forward in a career that will provide for their needs.
We train on four different types of equipment and have a contracted instructor to assist in this training.
Was state certified to instruct CDL student trainee at three locations and had a completion rate of 99% as an instructor with excellent reviews.
