I am a motivated leader with prioritization abilities. I started my career as a Respiratory Therapy Assistant while obtaining my Respiratory Care degree. I advanced to a Registered Resppiratory Therapist and while obtaining my bachelor's degree in Healthcare Management I was promoted to Respiratory Therapy Supervisor.
I have saved our department time and money after changing our billing/documentation system. I was the leader in adapting our system to a charging process driven from therapist documentation. This resulted in less steps for the therpaists saving them time in their day. This change decreased discrepencies in billing-if the therapy was documented it was billed. This also decreased the amount of time department management spent on entering charges and auditing charges.
I assisted in developing a therapist driven protocol. The Respiratory Therapy Protocol allows the therapist to determine the therapy given to patients based off patient assessment. This provides a patient specific course of treamtent and chages as the patient's condition improves or declines.
I received training and obtained my Process Improvement Greenbelt. My project was simplifying and improving the process to admit patients into inpatient pulmonary. Ultimately to increase the number of inpatient pulmonary rehab which would also increase our number of outpatient pulmonary rehab patients.
I co-created a Home Oxygen Order sheet that put every step in qualifying a patient for home oxygen, the physician's order and all required documentation into one sheet. This streamlined the process for getting patients their home oxygen in a timely manner and saving the therpaist time.
I drove the process for an Asthma Camp for youth that our department organized and ran for one year.
