In the interest of exploring the postition Senior Buyer with the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority:  Over the past 25 years I have been involved in buying and administrating office operations for a variety of professional businesses; of which 13 were years spent in a manufacturing environment as a Senior Buyer including the following phases of production: machine set-up, raw materials, work-in-process, subcontract work, plating, powder coating paint processes to finished goods; utilizing a perpetual MRP system.  Routinely placing multi-million dollar orders with companies like Calstrip Steel, Rolled Steel Products, Copper & Brass Sales all local companies.  Since 2001 I have been with the MTA working as a Buyer who, with in my first years, saved the organization over $150k and in FY09 saved $228k in costs and received Buyer of the Quarter in 2003. And most recently significantly reduced the cost on the following Metro item codes 163484N from $650.00 to $278.50 and 163486N from $585.00 to $ 252.50 by utilizing and implementing the newly mandated DEOD Set-a-side program for SBE, DBE and VDBE with the selection of LNI Custom Manufacturing located in the city of Hawthorne, Ca. I have also secured fixed pricing (with no increase) and scheduled deliveries of brake pads for the calender year 2015 with Bremskerl North America, Inc., for the fleet of 69 Nippon Sharyo trains assigned to Metro Blue Line.I ensure that all procurements adhere to to procurement policy and FTA Circular 4220,1F.  Throughout my extensive background,  I have not only kept up with shifting trends around the world but received recognition for outstanding problem solving and price negotiations.  I am eager to utilize my extensive knowledge in another hands on position within Metro, where I can interact with vendors, clients and executive personnel to concisely relay our requirements and implement the successful completion of projects.I believe that with my strong background, knowledge of buying/operations, excellent interpersonal communication skills and proven troubleshooting abilities.  I will make a valuable contribution to the Senior Buyer position. Metro Blue Line:  Support the Blue Line Rail Fleet of 69 cars to include Rail Wayside Systems/CMF (spare parts)Facilities Maintenance and the Rail Custodial departments.  Rountinely solicit outside vendors including small businesses, DBE's, WBE's, and VDBE's with subcontracting/reverse engineering requirements.  Provide sample components and/or specifications as well as assist with developing specifications and delivery schedules.  Prepare, analyze and award RFQ's on a daily basis to US and foreign suppliers. In contact daily with Blue Line Materials Planner preventing "Stocked Out" situations and preparing upcoming projects.
